The Victims of Socialism
The Republican National Committee today launched Victims of Socialism because too many people don’t know the truth and tragedy of allowing government to control your life.
The latest Pew data finds 55 percent of Americans have a negative view of socialism and 42 percent have a positive view. The biggest selling point? About 31 percent of supporters believe socialism “creates a fairer more generous system.” They haven’t experienced it. Still, just 4 percent of pro-socialist Americans think socialism is “better” than capitalism.
“We’re from the government and we’re here to help,” Ronald Reagan used to say to widespread laughter — because we all knew that even when totally well-intentioned, giving such control to government rarely works for long.
Reagan knew a lot about socialism: the Nazis were the National Socialist Party and their 1939–40 partner and rival communism shared the exact same DNA and the same methods:
