Thank you for your excellent question Camellia. Madonna (like every writer on Medium and the late Raquel Welch) is an artist who makes her living by sharing her art with the world. She's made her singing, her acting and her "look " and style the heart of her art for her entire career.

And just as you help me by reading my work and commenting on it (we all benefit from engagement), you and I both help Madonna and her art by commenting on her public work.

I totally agree with you what hat we do in our private lives is our own business, but what we share publicly (from Madonna's performances to her public appearances at the Grammys to her Instagram posts) are all part of her art.

She's always benefited from her "shock value" (the old adage is all publicity -- good and bad -- is good publicity.

Lastly. she's a role model (she and I are from the same state and went to the same university though she's older than I am), and we learn from our role models. They give us great examples of what works well and what doesn't work well, so critics (Including my critique of her work and your critique of my work) are all part of how we all learn and grow.

I'm grateful for Madonna and Raquel Welch because their examples are good examples for all to learn from. And the two main ways we all learn: We learn to imitate ideas we like and to avoid ideas we don't.

Thanks again for reading and for your comments!
