Thank you for the great comment! I should elaborate: The "Clinton time" thing hurt Bill Clinton over his whole presidency (like a thousand paper cuts impacting even Clinton cartoon or gag).
But then the Lewinsky scandal really put his every word and act under a microscope (it depends on what the meaning of is is, etc).
While he suffered, Hillary was viewed more as the Clinton who "stood up for the cause, tolerated what she had to suffer or endure for the marriage, family and the higher cause," etc. It was literally like she seemed to be the only one who met or exceeded all expectations at the very time when he wasn't viewed that way which really seemed to help her star rise (certainly from 1998 through the early 2000s) while his star diminished.
