Pluses and minuses to everything (we had a 2013 Volt and a 2017 Volt for a total of six years and never once sought external charging bcause we could charge at home -- the main advantage of an EV). We've been back to all-gas cars since 2019.
The pauses and minuses to EVs? They are just like cell phones: new tech, fun things you can charge at home. EVs have the same disadvantages as cell phones.
Policymakers think charging stations are the "big hurdle." But we never even bothered with them because it's nice an convenient to recharge at home (if you have a garage a high speed charger). The real hurdle? EVs have to prove they are better in every way before major numbers of buyers will switch and so far, they're not. They're just different. And even in our case, we are more likely to lease something like an EV that will eventually have a very expensive battery replacement cost.
