Oh Chrissie! I don’t know what it’s like to be you but the paradox of life is we are all totally unique — and yet, incredibly similar in many, many other ways.

Believe me, I understand the minefield. An excellent metaphor. I actually canceled my Medium subscription thinking I would be outnumbered and not fit in here then wound up renewing it a month later because we really are all unique and each have something to say.

The anxiety reminds me of a line in the Mass that GRABBED me about 10 years ago. The priest says in EVERY SINGLE MASS ``and free us from all anxiety…’’ .. I suspect it’s included in every Mass because that need is universal. The Bible tells us not to be afraid 365 different times — — enough for each day. We worry about the next moment or day or year (anxiety) or dwell on the past (which can lead to depression) when there is only one time period we control: this moment, right now.

So I promise you: I will try my hardest not to overreact to anything you say without any fear of being offended (journalists in my time were taught to have thick skins). So far, all I see is the good in you… remembering we all have darkness and light within us and are all children of God.

A wise Romanian priest taught me these lines I carry with me: “I am NOTHING. But I am also a child of God and He loves me dearly.’’

That applies to all of us.

So how do you react to someone if they behave terribly BUT they are also a child of God? I think the answer is we have to love them and pray for them (even when it becomes hard to like them)… When ISIS was chopping peoples heads off, a few brave people converted when doing so could mean death. Asked why? They said because all religions teach you to hate and destroy your enemies but Christianity alone tells us to love and pray for enemies.

Christianity and life itself is rarely easy but I am glad to meet you this way… And I repeat: God created you for a special reason. You are one of His masterpieces.
