I'd never heard of anyone making that offer to anyone in my life. So it struck me as pretty unique and powerful (I've been writing about abortion as a political issue for more than 30 years and the language and arguments haven't changed very much in those decades. People tend to repeat the same arguments over and over and over with both sides putting up walls to deflect the other.
So it struck me as powerful that Harbaugh would say "hey, you mean everything to me and I'd feel the same way about your baby if you ever got involved with a pregnancy you didn't want to address." It made me wonder: what if every child who started to get sexually active heard that offer from a father or mother figure.
