Interesting reaction. For years, I'd hear that and think, "That sounds like the good thing to do, but I couldn't do that." It was a roadblock. Then, I read a fairly secular book called The Politics of Jesus, which ignored the miracles and looked at his other teachings. That book explained how turning the other cheek (in context) was actually not meekness at all but an act of defiance.
