I TOTALLY understand. Love to say “You know what the only problem is with Christianity? CHRISTIANS!’’
I too have been hurt terribly and this revelation came to me (via a Holocaust survivor’s work): the opposite of love isn’t hate but indifference. Love and hate are both intense caring. So we seem to encounter two types of people in life: The people who care intensely (loving us sometimes, hating us other times — the people who hurt us the most tend to be the ones we love) and the people who simply don’t care at all (the indifferent people). The people who don’t care can’t intentionally hurt us but they can’t help us either.
About six years ago, a business partner hurt me terribly, telling me I was a jinx. I decided to start a 40 day novena, going to Church daily (at times when the Church or prayer area was empty) to be with Christ in His house. Yes, I know He is everywhere but it’s nice to go to someone’s home to feel closer to them. Eventually, I shifted from going to pray in an empty church to praying with others at Mass (the sacraments are communal each involving two or more people and God) and that helps a lot. Because we fall on our knees to pray when we’ve been hurt bad… So if and when you are ever ready the right one is there for you….
And until that time, feel free to write anytime.
