Great essay Ryan. I worked at the University of Michigan when their affirmative action cases went to the Supreme Court (2003). The court upheld the U-M law school standard while throwing out the undergrad policy. Race in America is so often a battle of white/black but we learned at the time that the policy was actually penalizing Asian students far more than any other group.
