Great essay. Everyone has priority lists (written or in our heads). Whoever or whatever is No.1 on our priority list is our "god" especially (the person or activity we hold sacred) especially if that person or activity remains No.1 day after day, year after year. Some people really do put dogs ahead of people. Others do with careers, children, parents, etc. When you fall in love, that other person shoots to No.1 on the list. When you're both No.1 on each other's lists? Well, that's the honeymoon/"pure bliss" time of euphoria. You'll have that I'm sure (just not with the dog addict)!
