Excellent essay. The big question is what “the wisdom of crowds” will now do to the market for EVs. Tesla is clearly the Coca Cola of EVs but if Coca Cola collapsed, cola drinkers wouldn’t necessarily go to other colas. Buyers might just re-think the category altogether (we had two Volts but would never consider the ugly Chevy Bolt that succeeded it and no one is going to dump a Tesla for a Bolt). So the great irony would be if progressives who love EVs (but now loathe Musk) make it less likely buyers move to EVs.
